Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Promise yourself that this is the year you will stop doing your favoritebutbadforyou habit?
I do. Even if I only keep one of them, I feel like I’ve made myself a little better/healthier/fashionable. If I keep at least one of them, I’ve kicked the years ass and I feel proud.
This year is no different in that I’ll be making resolutions; however, it is different in that I’m thinking a little smaller (but big impact!). I present to you (Meghan), my 2012 resolutions:
- Be a better daughter/sister - Visit my Mom more, call home a little more often, and make more time for my family. Even if it kills me.
- Be kinder - I’m going to try to be less negative about myself, especially when it comes to my body (you wouldn’t talk to your friends that way!), to be more understanding of others (despite my initial annoyance), and a lot more patient. We could all stand to be a little kinder (to ourselves and others).
- Take a few more chances - I’m a worry wart! I can admit it! It drives me crazy, so I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to my (very understanding and very wonderful) friends. So I will try to do the thing that freaks me out a little, and to eat the food that sounds amazing despite my nervousness. This will be very tough for me, but I’ll do my best. Baby steps.
- Continue to put more effort into my wardrobe - This pretty much speaks for itself. I’ve made some real progress here, especially in my work attire. I’d like to continue growing a more respectable, and fashionable wardrobe. I want to look simple, comfortable, and put together, all in a way that doesn’t look like I’m trying as (ridiculously) hard as I am. Effortless.
Those are my big four. I could fill in with some of the usual, don’t interrupt people, watch less TV, check Facebook less often, and perhaps I will, but these little babies are what my focus will be on. They are big, but simple. I hope this time next year I’ll have at least one checked off.
Wish me luck!
What will your resolutions be in the upcoming year?
