Saying farewell to an old tattoo…
In about a half hour I will begin covering an old tattoo. I’m excited for something new, but I’m also remembering where I was and what I was doing when I got it.
I was 19 (so it was ten years ago! last year), I was in Sunny Vale, California with my best friend, her now hubs, and his best friend. We ran around seeing what there is to see, and playing in the sun. We went to San Francisco and stayed the night, visiting strip clubs and befriending homeless rappers. The tattoo was impromptu ( I do not recommend this) and though it reminds me a great time, I’m looking forward to having a new tattoo, to remind me of this time of my life, and starting fresh.

About a month ago I contacted a tattoo artist about finally getting started on some of the tattoos I’ve got in my head. He wrote me back initially, asking for some details but after that I heard nothing. A few days ago I gave up on him and started looking for another artist to work with, and I stumbled upon this lady: http://icontattoostudio.com/lisa-maurine
I like the idea of being tattooed by a woman, and also I like her sunny disposition. I emailed her and heard back two days later (nice!), she seems really friendly and excited about starting a new project. I have a consultation with her on Friday 3/30. I’m too excited!!!
My tattoo done by Steve Bauer of Premier Tattoo in CO. These are lyrics from a La Dispute song, and these words hold incredibly strong personal meaning to me.

My 2nd tattoo, which was my 18th birthday present to myself. I have to go back in later to get the faces on the cameo touched up once it’s healed. It was done at pincushn’s in holland, MI by Matt. He did an amazing job and it turned out exactly how I pictured it. I’m so happy :)

I got this tattoo for my grandparents (on my fathers side). my grandfather played the accordion his whole life. the kurbits (the flowers) are for both of them since they’re from Dalarna, Sweden. It’s my favourite place in the whole wide world. The tattoo is placed on my inner arm, next to my heart.
